Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Bitter
Hi Billy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Manhasset, NY and began playing lacrosse at 4 years old. Lacrosse is the biggest sport in Manhasset and most of Long Island, NY. Everyone played it growing up. I played through the Manhasset rec program and then Manhasset middle school and high school. I did an extra year of high school at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. I was then fortunate enough to get recruited to play lacrosse at the University of North Carolina where I played for four years. After college, I worked full time for Cascade Maverik Lacrosse, a lacrosse manufacturer. I also ran camps and youth lacrosse tournaments around the country part of my own business. I recently moved to Daniel Island, SC to help build up the sport in the south.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not many challenges along the way since everyone within the sport is so willing to help one another out. It is a small community of players and everyone loves to grow the game.
We’ve been impressed with Billy Bitter Lacrosse, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Billy Bitter Lacrosse is a lacrosse teaching business for boys & girls of all ages. When I meet with players I make sure it’s a small intimate group setting to ensure maximum reps. I am best known for being able to teach the game to all skill levels. I focus a lot of my attention on fundamentals and perfecting technique.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience. I work with kids of all skill levels and all age groups. Patience is key in order for players from all backgrounds to learn.
