Hi Xi Gamma Sigma Alumnae Chapter, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The Xi Gamma Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was chartered and established on December 16, 2023 in Summerville, South Carolina. Our purpose is to improve the lives of women and their families through community service, civil action, and social action. The sorority’s goals include education, healthcare, and leadership development. Sigma Gamma Rho’s motto is “Greater Service, Greater Progress” and its principles are sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been a smooth and expected one as there was a need for our community service in the area. We are here to stay.

Our organization has been around for more than 100 years. Our basis is greater women creating a greater world. Xi Gamma Sigma will resist the urge to do what’s familiar and focus on our commitment to change by showing up in love for each other and our community. We will build D9 relationships and foster true sisterhood that will mend fences. We will handle Sigma business towards financial and membership growth as we press into authenticity while remembering our why. What sets the sorority apart is our programs and activities that address issues that impact society educationally, civically, and economically.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Summerville has a small town feel. It is a residential town with a balance of small-town and city life. It has monthly festivals, a farmer’s market, and friendly residents. It is full of southern charm
Summerville has a laid-back atmosphere and is known for its Southern hospitality. You can also enjoy some of the best Lowcountry cuisine. There isn’t anything to “not” like about our beautiful city of Summerville, South Carolina.
