Exploring Life & Business with Sean Lowery of Lowery Brands LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Lowery.

Sean Lowery

Hi Sean, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story? How did you get to where you are today?
Founded in 2014, I started in my mom’s basement. Lowery Brands has rapidly become one of America’s fastest-growing companies, earning a coveted spot on the Inc 5000 list. Sean Lowery and Shelby Miske’s journey from Philadelphia to their strategic move to Charleston exemplifies their entrepreneurial success. The brand, now comprising United Monograms and other ventures, thrives on personalized clothing and accessories, with the holiday season emerging as a peak period, contributing significantly to their projected $10 million in sales for the year. United Monograms is the #1 online shop for Monograms, and the personalized e-commerce brand has been on top of the trends time after time. They created graphic monograms, now a staple item you’ll see online. They also started the ‘Make It Yours™’ product line, which has now become a Best-Selling category of the brand. Customers love how the brand sets the top-notch shopping experience & style, but they can personalize a little section of the apparel items to Make It Yours™. It has not been easy for the hard-working couple & their team. The company does all the production in-house and recently purchased a 22,000-square-foot building in Charleston, SC, where its growing team of employees comes daily to work hard for the hundreds of thousands of customers across the country.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not a smooth road at all! The business has come close to failing a few times early- but they have always persevered. The balance of trying to be on top of sales, products, and production is a crazy combination of things to have on their plate. The company has had to become efficient in operations to get personalized items to their customers as quickly as possible. Through the power of software, technology, and investing in space & manpower- it’s incredible to see this company with no outside funding or help be on this path to success today.

Who else deserves credit for your story?
While Sean was the one who had the Entrepreneurial Bug to start the business, Shelby first suggested buying a small at-home embroidery machine while the couple was dating and she was still a kindergarten teacher. She got the business turned towards Monograms. Now married and living in Charleston, SC – Shelby deserves so much credit for putting up with Sean’s crazy goals! Employee Rachel Doblin has been with the company for 7 years and is now a crucial sales team member.
