Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Simon.
Hi Jenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started in the hospitality industry at just 14 years old — first as a smoothie barista, then working my way up to waitress, bartender, and eventually event coordinator. Along the way, I discovered not only a love for creating great drinks, but also a passion for crafting unforgettable experiences for people.
I knew I wanted to bring my talent and creativity directly to clients, turning their celebrations into something truly special. It wasn’t an easy road — there were long nights, steep learning curves, and plenty of challenges — but with the support of my community, family, and friends, I made it happen.
Pour Decisions began with a simple idea: deliver exceptional service, memorable drinks, and unique touches that make every event feel one-of-a-kind. I started with just a few local events, a portable bar, and the drive to make every celebration stand out.
As word spread, I expanded from bartending into a full suite of event services, including event rentals, catering, décor, photography, makeup and hair, IV drips, charcuterie carts, coffee and dessert bars, and more.
Today, Pour Decisions is trusted for everything from intimate backyard gatherings to large-scale corporate galas and dreamy weddings.
My goals remain the same:
• Provide high-quality, personalized service at every event.
• Add creativity, warmth, and flair to every setup.
• Continue expanding so clients can find everything they need for their special day in one place.
From a 14-year-old smoothie barista to running my own full-service event business, this journey has been proof that with hard work, community support, and a little bit of playful charm, making Pour Decisions can be the best choice you’ll ever make.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
1. Starting with limited resources
• Having to invest in portable bar setups, tools, glassware, and décor without big start-up capital.
• Finding creative ways to make events look polished when working with minimal equipment in the early days.
2. Building a client base from scratch
• Relying on word-of-mouth and social media to get those first few bookings.
• Convincing clients to trust a new business in an industry where reputation is everything.
3. Wearing every hat
• Being the bartender, coordinator, marketer, accountant, and delivery driver all at once.
• Learning business operations, pricing structures, and contracts while still working events yourself.
4. Managing unpredictable event work
• Seasonal slow periods with fewer bookings and unpredictable cash flow.
• Last-minute changes or cancellations that required flexibility and quick problem-solving.
5. Competing with established vendors
• Standing out in a crowded market where bigger companies had more equipment, staff, and name recognition.
• Finding ways to differentiate your services through personalization and unique offerings.
6. Balancing work-life demands
• Long nights, weekends, and travel for events while still maintaining personal relationships and self-care.
7. Scaling without losing quality
• Hiring and training bartenders who could match your standard of service.
• Expanding service offerings without overextending resources or losing the personal touch.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always the outgoing kid — the one who wanted to make friends with everyone and could strike up a conversation with anyone. From a young age, I had a strong sense of independence and worked hard toward building that for myself. I’ve always been empathetic, with a genuine desire to give more than I receive. There’s something deeply fulfilling about bringing joy to others, and I’ve found real happiness in seeing people happy.
With my strong, vibrant personality and natural ability to connect with people, it felt only right that I gravitated toward sales, hospitality, and customer service. These fields gave me the perfect outlet to combine my love for people, my drive to create memorable experiences, and my dedication to making others feel valued.
