Meet Evan Levy of Greenville Gains

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Levy.

Hi Evan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Long story short, I grew up a very shy, nerdy kid who kept to myself. I played sports but didn’t have the drive or determination to stick with anything. Once I started college I hit a rough patch and got very depressed.

Luckily through friends, I discovered fitness and lifting and got hooked! I ended up majoring in Exercise Physiology and decided to become a trainer and coach because I know how much fitness helped me with my discipline, work ethic, and goal-setting, and I wanted to share that gift with others.

After 12 years of training clients in person, I decided to focus on online coaching full-time. Online is not limited by time or location, and it gives me the flexibility to travel and work anywhere. It also allows me to expand my reach beyond just Greenville, thus allowing me to help people all over the world.

Over the years, I’ve experienced every type of fitness you can think of – running, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, Crossfit, gymnastics, yoga, Pilates, you name it. I’ve competed in 5 powerlifting meets and 3 men’s physique shows, along with many fitness photoshoots.

After growing up in New Jersey right outside NYC my whole life, I moved down to Greenville, SC 2 years ago. I truly love it here, and I enjoy connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs in the area. I’m currently focused on scaling and growing my online business.

I truly love helping people and making a positive impact on their physique, their mindset, and their life. It’s the most rewarding and fulfilling job in the world!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road! Over the years, I’ve struggled with depression, injuries, financial issues, family problems, you name it.

We all have our struggles and demons. But in the end, there are no trophies for being a victim. It’s not about what struggles you’ve faced, but how you’ve been able to overcome them and use those lessons to make something of yourself.

Those are the stories that inspire people to be great.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business focuses on online fitness coaching! It’s a comprehensive program that covers every aspect of your fitness and health – nutrition, lifting, cardio, supplements, sleep, stress, hydration, stretching, mindset, and more.

I mainly work with men in their 20s and 30s who want to either build muscle or burn fat. Most of my clientele are guys who already have some workout experience and are already in a “good” spot – that’s where I come in and take them to the next level and make them GREAT.

My main training style is a bodybuilding approach. I have my clients focus on the basics and fundamentals – you can’t build a house without a foundation. Nutrition consists of finding my clients’ daily calories and macronutrients (protein, carbs, and fats) and coming up with a meal plan that hits these numbers and fits into their lifestyle and schedule.

What sets me apart from others is that most trainers I see don’t really provide a complete approach to their client’s health and well-being (and for a long time, I didn’t either!) Most trainers have their clients come in for a workout, kick their butt for an hour, and that’s it. Coaching is more about ongoing motivation and accountability for all the other hours when your client is not in the gym with you.

Brand-wise I’m most proud of all my clients’ amazing transformations over the years.

In the end, any business is about solving people’s problems and providing value. It’s the best feeling to look at a client’s side-by-side progress photos and see the months of hard work that they put in – all the countless meals, workouts, cardio, and everything that went into it.

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I believe success is about having a well-rounded happy healthy life. I’ve seen many people over the years who have a ton of money, but their health is terrible.

Or their health is great, but they have no family or relationships. Or their family is beautiful, but financially they’re always struggling. Or maybe they have all of the above, but their mental health is awful.

True success is having a completely fulfilled life with all of these areas going well. Not everything will be in perfect balance, but I think if someone is doing well in these 4 areas, they are successful overall.
