Meet Ashley Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Davis.

Hi Ashley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It all began in quite an odd way, to be honest. I used to purchase earrings from an online vendor and I noticed that one pair wasn’t exactly the same.

So I started to investigate the earrings, comparing them and realized I could make them myself and save a few coins. I showed them off a little bit and got really good feedback.

Some people even asked me to make some for them and it really started to take off. It really made me think about considering really putting in effort towards it because it would fill in the gaps in my teaching salary and support my two sons as well.

It really worked out because I could do it at home and still be able to be around and do it for the boys without having to clock in at a part-time job after my full-time. That is how my journey really began!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worth it is ever smooth! There have been a few hiccups in the road. Most of the hiccups have been internal! It is a different type of venture navigating a small business being a solo crew.

There have been moments where I have compared my journey to others and we all know that that is a big no-no! I really had to remember my why when I would have big weeks with lots of orders and even when I had slower weeks with not so many orders.

My family and friends have really been supportive and helped me when I have lots of orders to get out. I am always appreciative of them. But I have learned that having a small business is a journey, one that I am just starting, and excited to learn more about and grow in every way.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
While @Get_TasselED is my baby, education is my passion. Affectionately coined “the tasseled teacher”, I love to merge my earrings with my day job.

I have tassels for every outfit, all occasions, and in every color! It is such a talking point, whether I’m at work or in Target strolling the aisles or being courtside at my son’s basketball games! I think I am most proud of the fact that I am able to offer superb customer service regardless of my busy days because that is just who I am.

I think that it is important to serve others so I want to make their shopping experience with @Get_Tasseld as accommodating as possible.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
I think one of my favorite childhood memories was attempting to learn how to drive my mom‘s Mazda 626 stick shift. While I was not successful in learning it, it is not anything I will readily forget.

It could have been the miscommunication between my ears and my brain that switched the gas and the brake pedal. It could have been the panic that sent me back to the road instead of to the garage where I was supposed to go.

Either way, my mom’s yell is cemented in my head and it still makes me laugh to this day.
