Life & Work with Erin Pratt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Pratt.

Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi, thank you so much for chatting with me! I’m the founder of Ivy Lynne Studio, a Charleston-based website and brand design studio, and mother of two sweet girls, Sophie Ivy and Lucy Lynne. I fall under the category of “multi-passionate entrepreneur” with a love for all things travel, adventure, yoga, wellness, gentle parenting, website design and branding.

After graduating from James Madison University in Virginia with a Media Arts & Design Degree, I spent the next decade working in the corporate world as a communications and social media manager. But that really never defined me. Throughout both college and my career, I always pursued my true passions on the side.

In 2011, I embarked on my first experience living abroad (in London) and fell in love with exploring new places. Over the next several years I traveled to 17 countries (+ counting) and created my first website– a travel blog that reached thousands of readers from all over the globe. This is where I first learned what it took to create a brand/website.

In recent years, I began exploring the wonders of inner healing. After receiving my 200-hour yoga teaching certification in Costa Rica in 2019, I began teaching yoga, meditation, and leading moon circles. This led me into a deep love for all things healing and wellness for mind, body and spirit. I transformed my travel blog into a wellness business with yoga/meditation classes, moon circles, a blog and an online crystal shop.

I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit since I was very young, and though I loved pursuing my passions, I always coupled them with a stable full-time job.

I married my husband Ryan in 2019 and gave birth to my babies in 2020 and 2021. Motivated by my new role as a mom to my two girls, I finally made the decision to start my own business. At the perfect time, I received a sign that it was time to leave the corporate world and step fully into my purpose– helping others create a life they love by using my design skills to bring their vision to reality.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Balancing the creation of a new business while being a mom to two under two and also working a full-time job is no easy task. I spent many late nights forming my business, while I worked my job during the day and also took care of my girls. I knew I needed support. I leaned on family to help with my girls, and hired a good friend of mine to support me in setting up the backend systems for my budding business. I found my first clients through a local small business Facebook group here in Charleston, and in September of 2022, I officially left my job. Being able to split my time between being a mom and being a business owner is the greatest gift and is well worth every late night.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I build my websites through a platform called Showit. I customize each website and brand to my client so their website feels like coming home. My website packages offer custom website design, branding, and SEO optimization.

I seek to bring feelings of peace, empowerment, and comfort to each and every client I have the opportunity to work with by blending my unique background in yoga and wellness with the creative side of web and graphic design. For many people, websites can feel daunting, overwhelming, and frustrating. It is my mission to build beautiful websites that truly represent the heart and soul behind each of my client’s businesses, through an efficient and seamless process that typically takes one month from start to finish.

In each call, I not only take time to understand my client’s website needs, but also who they are– the human behind the business. This allows me to build a website and create a brand that makes them proud and attracts their dream client.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My mission is to support my clients’ dreams by creating a website that brings them joy and pride, while creating a peaceful and seamless web design experience. Life is too short to be stuck in a career that doesn’t bring you joy. I believe everyone has a unique gift to offer the world, and I’m here to help those who want to turn that gift into a career.
