Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Travers.
Hi Kelly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I spent years working for a social sports company managing their logistics and large scale national events. Eventually I realized that I wanted to focus on smaller boutique style concierge, event and wedding planning services in my home town of Folly Beach, SC. As a resident of Folly Beach I have strong relationships with our surrounding neighbors and businesses which led me to start my company.
I started this company with a passion for dream weddings, events and vacations! I have over 20 years in the events and hospitality industry and hold a Certified Meeting Planner designation by the National Events Industry Council. We aim to please with an attention to detail, exceptional customer service and an overall enthusiasm, no matter the scope of your celebration!
Our Event and Concierge service came together to help other people with event and wedding planning, island-wide festivals, vacation rentals and fun things to do on Folly Beach!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting my company seemed like a natural fit for my background; but without all of the crazy travel! Of course there have been some bumps along the way. I started the company just as Covid was beginning and for a company that deals with bringing groups of people together it was a rough start. But we found a niche of people that still wanted to vacation to the beach; that still wanted to get married in a more intimate setting and that still wanted a unique Folly beach experience. I was also contracted with the Folly Association of Business as their event planner so I had to get creative and develop ways to support local business by creating social distanced safe programs and events on the island! Navigating Covid and all of the associated protocols right at the start did prepare me to problem solve, think on my feet and find solutions! From there the business has only grown as life returned to “normal” and I am so grateful!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I built Events on the Edge to create unique event experiences for my clients. I strive to provide a customized, approachable, and a one point-of-contact service. My goal is to take away ALL of the pain points of event management and allow our clients to take center stage and actually enjoy every moment of the event with their guests.
We do everything from weddings to corporate parties to large scale street festivals. I feel so fortunate to make wedding days magical for my clients but to also balance that by being contracted by various Folly Beach organizations to run street festivals, ice skating rinks, cocktail competitions, galas, polar plunges, fireworks displays and more! We love weddings but enjoy broadening our offerings with other event types is important!
