Today we’d like to introduce you to Parris Balazs.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I launched my event planning business in December 2018, and planned my first wedding the following year. What began as a passion for bringing people together quickly grew into a business centered on thoughtful planning, meaningful details, and creating an exceptional experience for both our clients and their guests.
Since then, I have had the privilege of planning and coordinating more than 150 weddings and special events throughout South Carolina and beyond. Over the years, my work has expanded from wedding coordination into full service planning, design, corporate events, nonprofit celebrations, and large scale community events. Each experience has strengthened my understanding of not only what makes an event beautiful, but also what makes it feel organized, intentional, and deeply personal.
In 2025, I entered a new chapter by rebranding the company as Balazs Events. The new name and direction reflect how much the business has grown and the level of service we now provide. Today, Balazs Events specializes in full service weddings, wedding weekends, private estate celebrations, and meaningful events where hospitality and guest experience are at the heart of every decision.
Along the way, our work has been recognized by The Knot, Brides & Weddings, New York Bride, WeddingWire, Free Times, and other organizations, but the most meaningful part of this journey has always been the trust our clients place in us. I am incredibly proud of how far the company has come, and I remain just as excited about each celebration as I was when I planned my very first wedding.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a completely smooth road. I launched the business in late 2018, planned my first wedding in 2019, and then faced the uncertainty of the pandemic shortly afterward. Like many event professionals, I had to navigate postponements, cancellations, changing safety requirements, and the financial strain of an industry that suddenly came to a stop.
As the business grew, I also had to learn how to price my services sustainably, establish healthier boundaries, build a dependable team, and become more selective about the events and clients that were the right fit. There is a tremendous amount of work that happens behind the scenes in event planning, and it took time for me to recognize the value of that expertise and become confident in charging accordingly.
I have also grown the company while raising a family. Balancing motherhood, marriage, client responsibilities, and the demands of entrepreneurship has required a great deal of flexibility and resilience. There have been seasons when I questioned whether I could continue doing everything well, but those seasons also pushed me to create better systems, protect my time, and define what success truly means for me.
Rebranding as Balazs Events was another significant step. It meant letting go of a name and identity I had spent years building so the business could more accurately reflect where we were headed. Every challenge has helped me become a stronger planner, business owner, and leader. The road has not always been easy, but it has been incredibly meaningful.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Balazs Events?
Balazs Events is a full service wedding and event planning company serving clients throughout the Carolinas and beyond. We specialize in weddings, wedding weekends, private estate and tented celebrations, corporate events, and nonprofit galas.
What sets us apart is our balance of creativity, hospitality, and detailed logistics. We consider not only how an event looks, but also how it flows and how guests feel throughout the experience. From vendor management and design to timelines and event day execution, we thoughtfully manage both the big picture and the details behind it.
I am most proud that Balazs Events carries my family name and represents the standard of service I have worked years to build. Our brand is rooted in genuine relationships, strong advocacy for our clients, and the belief that every celebration should feel personal, welcoming, and meaningful.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My best advice is to focus on building genuine relationships rather than collecting contacts. Networking has worked best for me when I approach it with curiosity, consistency, and a desire to support others. Referring business, sharing resources, celebrating another professional’s success, and following through on commitments often creates stronger connections than simply handing someone a business card.
When looking for a mentor, seek someone whose values, work, and approach to business align with the direction you want to pursue. Be specific about what you hope to learn, respect their time, and remain open to honest feedback. Mentorship does not always have to be formal. Some of my most valuable professional relationships have developed naturally through collaboration, conversations, and working alongside other experienced event professionals.
Ultimately, showing up consistently, doing strong work, and being someone others enjoy working with has been the most effective form of networking for me.
