Today we’d like to introduce you to Shequettias Ruff.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a little girl, I was always right beside my grandmother whether she was cooking or baking. My dad was the best cook/griller ever so my love was always in the kitchen!
I lost my dad in 2014 to colon cancer and he was literally my best friend. I think of him every single day and especially while I’m running my business because he was always my motivation. I started my business in January 2020 and lost my grandmother in April 2020.
I was depressed following her death. The business was a bit rough during that time because of my mental state but I didn’t let that stop me. I used it as motivation because I know she wouldn’t want me to stop.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
So yes and no! Nothing is easy. With each level in life, there’s a new devil.
I’ve run mostly into bad things being said about me and my work but that’s normal. I never let anything stop me. I love looking back on my work and seeing my growth.
I never thought I was the best and I still do not because there is always something I could have done better.
Consistency is the key to anything in life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I graduated from Piedmont technical college in May 2021 with an associate’s degree in accounting.
I am currently employed at v.c summer as a cost control specialist. After graduating from college, I was very nervous when it came to finding a job in my field.
I prayed for a job in my field every night then one day, I received an email saying “we have a job that we think you would be a perfect fit for.” Ever since then, I’ve been an employee here.
