Conversations with Sabrina Charles-Moultrie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Charles-Moultrie.

Hi Sabrina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Sabrina Charles-Moultrie. I am the CEO/Founder of YuNique Stylz, Sugar Baby Cupcakes & Queen Cleaning LLC I’m originally from Maryland and moved here in 2018 with Sugar Baby Cupcakes (est.2013) which is the #2 Bakery in Beaufort on Yelp… Throughout my life, I’ve always been into natural everything. Products for the body, hair, mind spirit.

During the beginning of the pandemic, I was working as a cook at The Oaks Living (Summit Place), and caregiving at Synergy Home Care on HHI. I was struggling with natural hair products from beauty supply stores and they weren’t giving my hair or my husband’s hair the best results. So, I researched natural herbs and essential oils, and the benefits they have combined in our hair and skin.

After weeks of research, I started making products to test out on our hair. Products that targeted dry itchy scalp that my husband suffers from and with me I was suffering from excessive hair shedding, dry, itchy scalp. I loved the results it gave. I had other family members and friends try my products and they loved them.

In April 2020, YuNique Stylz was created. I now have 3 signature hair care lines, body love lines & organic soy wax candles. Those who suffer from Alopecia can feel good about their hair process. The customer I have with Alopecia has been using my products since April 2020 and her results were noticeable instantly.

The cells & hair follicles were able to regenerate themselves promoting healthy natural clean new hair growth. Skin issues such as eczema, acne, blemishes, and wrinkles all can be improved with face masks, Body scrubs, and Bar soaps.

Everything is made by hand, from scratch & made with the love and passion I have for my products and the background of my nationality. I want to be able to share my products not just to make money or build a brand, but to be able to help someone feel better, and more confident within themselves. Be in love with their hair again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Having handmade products can take some time to be processed. Formulations have to be good in order for the product to work to the best of its ability, pricing at first was a hassle, determining the best containers & jars. Creating my website, business cards, and labels. I do it all myself with my husband being my biggest supporter/tester/my partner.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I am a caregiver with Synergy Home Care located on HHI and I also do private duty caregiving for my daytime career. I am known as a jack of all trades. I have 4 businesses I started myself without help, without specific education pertaining to some of the things I know how to do. I’ve done carpentry and all. Not sure of just 1 thing I specialize in because I’m pretty good at multiple things.

Out of all the things I do and the 4 businesses I have, YuNique Stylz is my pride and joy. To be a part of someone’s journey and know that I helped them get to a point where they feel good. What sets me apart from others is my uniqueness, my personality, my attitude, and the courage I have each day to do something bigger and better than the day or the hour before.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was seeing my mom go after everything she wanted without fear or regret for the outcome. She pushed herself to go into the army, continue schooling, and take care of me and my other 3 siblings as well as her 5 siblings. She always taught me so many things, always told me that I could do and be anything I set my mind and heart to. Being the daughter of a natural-born go-getter was always admiring and never faded.
