Conversations with Harold Jordan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harold Jordan.

Harold, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My start in magic I like to believe started with my parents. My mother and father introduced me to David Blaine via YouTube.

As an early teenager in middle school, it inspired me to pursue learning the art form and I immediately started forming my own tricks here and there and trying them out on my parents.

During my 10th and 11th grade years of high school was when I began performing openly for friends, family, classmates, and teachers. To this day, almost 10 years later, people I knew back then still tell me the tricks that impressed them the most.

One of the administrators at my high school still remembers when a butterfly came flying out of my mouth in the front office in front of all that were present.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Magic has never been a straight and narrow path for me. Still today, I have moments of nervousness, criticizing my own performances, etc.

There was a time when I stop doing magic completely due to the negative opinions of others and my not feeling adequate as a performer.

Now, I find myself on a journey of making this a lifelong career but the biggest challenge with that is maintaining a full-time job, being a husband, owner of 3 pets, and building relationships with family and friends.

Some of the things I named are more demanding than the others but in my view so is magic!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I like to think of myself as an eccentric performer.

My demonstrations embody a subtle combination of reality as well as “humbug”. For the experience of my audience, it complicates the determination where one left off and the other beginning.

My entertainment quickly secured wide publicity through unorthodox means of promotion as well as the demonstrations themselves.

What are your plans for the future?
There are many projects and ideas I have for the future. I anticipate doing a series of bizarre stunts that will put my mind, body, and fear to the test.

As for the onlookers, my goal is to suspend their disbelief confounding their reality with what it is they may be witnessing.
