Conversations with Bridgett Mitchell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgett Mitchell.

Hi Bridgett, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Bridgett Peoples Mitchell, owner of TallyMallyDesigns where we do everything from personalized tees to full custom garment design.

I began this journey in 2010 with the desire to create personalized pieces for my only little girl Talya. The business name actually derives from her nickname TallyMally. At the time, I started the business I was employed full-time.

After the birth of my 4th child, in 2013, I was blessed with the opportunity to do what I love on a full-time basis with the support of my husband Selwyn. This gave me the time and energy to focus on my brand and nurture it to where it is today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
There have been some challenges that I’ve faced along the way, such as a challenging Breast Cancer diagnosis in 2017. Understandably, this lead to a significant slow down in what I was able to do with the business during treatment.

There were some things that were delayed, but definitely not denied. Though it was a difficult time physically, it ultimately made me stronger and more determined to ensure that TallyMallyDesigns is self-sufficient and known not just in SC but nationally and internationally for its great products, excellent designs, and most especially impeccable customer service.

I would also consider the pandemic another challenge. I went from designing tees and clothes to making thousands of face masks to help keep Americans safe where there was a shortage. Being able to shift was a lifesaver for my brand and finances.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a self-taught fashion designer and a creative mastermind.

I specialize in custom garment design from head to toe. This includes headgear, hair accessories, jewelry, clothing, dance wear, and special, occasion attire, I also provide garment and product printing services through screenprint, vinyl as well as sublimation. This allows me to do a lot of branding for other small businesses.

We believe that offering options allow for meeting a wide range of needs for all of the client base. I am most proud of being able to meet the growing and changing challenges of entrepreneurship. This creative work is not for the faint of heart. No matter how great you do, there will always be someone who won’t be satisfied.

I do my best to take it in stride and allow all feedback to be constructive and help me become better. Providing great products and services while giving an excellent customer service experience, is what I believe sets me apart from other businesses.

I always let them know that I guarantee my work.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
Excellent presentation and reputation of my business are what matter the most.

Word of mouth and referral is where the bulk of my customers come from. When your customers are happy, they are going to tell somebody who also tells somebody.
