Check Out Leslie Richardson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Richardson.

Hi Leslie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
The journey for me has definitely been long but rewarding. I’ve always wanted to be a makeup artist ever since I was a little girl looking through my mom’s hair magazines as she is a cosmetologist. I have been in the beauty industry for over 10 years now and I’m just getting started.

I began my passion in 2012 practicing on my mother’s clients with makeup I would pick up here and there when I had the money. I really started investing in my business around 2014 and Bouji Beats was born I would promote myself on Facebook and Instagram and my clientele grew.

I have rebranded since then and now I am happy to present Top Tier Beauty & Co. to the world. I want my work to touch people in a way where it’s not just the makeup and how it looks on the outside but how it makes you feel on the inside after enhancing someone’s natural beauty.

Currently, I am specializing in bridal and editorial makeup applications and want to pursue film and production makeup in the near future. I had a vision and it is now a reality I want to let everyone know it’s never too late to pursue your passion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road for me.

I had to battle a lot with self-doubt and depression and at times wanted to give up on my business.

When bookings would slow down or sometimes seeing others surpass what you’re trying to accomplish can make you feel hard on yourself at times but I had to get out of that mentality and now I’m only focused on my goals.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional makeup artist specializing in bridal and editorial makeup applications. I am most proud of how far I’ve come and it’s only up from here.

What sets me apart is I have tunnel vision of my target market and I don’t want to be like anyone else in my industry.

I just want to outdo myself each time.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I pray before every client and before every assignment or call for work. I go to God for guidance when I make decisions in regard to my business.
