Hi Derek, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had an interest in cooking. I graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2011 and it has been an adventure since then. I have cooked in a variety of places from hospitals to country clubs and I am on my way to opening up my own restaurant!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Covid has put a tremendous halt on my progress.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an up-and-coming personal chef. I specialize in bbq, smoking, grilling, and sauce making. I am most proud of my smoked brisket. What sets me apart from others is my flavor profile and my creativity.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Word of mouth and social media has been working for me.
