Check Out Carmina Hernandez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmina Hernandez.

Hi Carmina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Carmina Hernández, I’m 40 years young! I’m a mom of three children, Amaree, Ansel and Elaina and I also have two spoiled rotten dogs named Coco and Alpha. And I’m married to my college sweetheart, David. I graduated from Fox College with an associates degree in applied science in physical therapy, and from Pivot Point Academy’s esthetics program. I’ve always been a hands on learner and a people person, which is why I perused these professions. However, my passion has always been in the beauty industry. It’s where I feel I can be the most artistic, creative and let my outgoing personality shine ! My husband, pushed me for many years to open my own business but I shied away from the idea because I was too fearful of the unknown challenges that laid ahead. All of that change after having my last child. Needless to say, being a mom of three kids working part time as a physical therapist assistant was extremely stressful! I constantly felt like I was missing out on all the wonderful milestones my kids were reaching because I was too busy working 9 to 5. That’s when I finally has my AH-HA moment and decided to go into business for myself! I opened Blush Esthetics in September 2019 and it was thrilling and scary all at once! I was making my own work hours and doing something I absolutely loved and no longer feeling torn between work and family.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a business owner is challenging, to say the least. There are so many roles one must take. I was great at performing facials and waxing but I need a lot of guidance marketing my business and keeping my books full. As if that isn’t hard enough on any business owner, I struggled to stay afloat during COVID. Unfortunately, after being mandated by the state to shut down for three months, I could no longer keep Blush Esthetics open. I was fortunate enough to find another retail space for lease after the pandemic started looking up. I wasn’t allowed to perform facials initially when I first reopened due to state guidelines. So I go creative with my service menu offering body treatments and lash and brow services! Things started to pick up gradually, and I was so proud of myself for overcoming such an unprecedented obstacle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in advanced facial treatments and in lash and brow services. Some of the facials I offer are as follows, hydrodermabrasion, nano infusion, oxygen infusion, microdermabrasion, LED light therapy facials and superficial chemical peels.
I also offer, lash lifts, brow laminations, henna brow tinting and waxing services. What sets me apart from my competitors, is the quality and guarantee of my work. I’m completely devoted to educating clients and keeping them happy with their results. As a solo esthetician, I’m able to take time to build a professional rapport with clients, gain their trust, and establish realistic expectations and outcomes.
