Today we’d like to introduce you to JaM – Jamie And Mike Acoustic Classic Rock.
JaM – Jamie and Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
JaM began in 2013 when Jamie Stewart (lead vocals and guitar) and Mike Coyle (harmony vocals, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, bass) got together to create an acoustic classic rock duo. Our music focuses on tight harmonies and all live performance – no backing tracks, covering classic rock music from the 60’s through today. We play at local bars and restaurants in the Charlotte-Rock Hill-Fort Mill area and also play private parties and corporate events.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, it’s been a pretty smooth ride. This is not a full-time job for either one of us and we love to play music, but we treat it as a job and conduct ourselves professionally. We show up on time, play at an appropriate noise level for the venue and provide solid entertainment for the patrons. We work to build solid relationships with our partners and go above and beyond to meet their needs.
As with almost all businesses, Covid had a major impact on restaurants and bars and we didn’t get to play as much as we would have liked. Since then, we have been fortunate to maintain a steady schedule.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a small acoustic duo, what sets us apart is our harmonies and musicianship. Everything we do is live – no backing tracks, no auto-tune. Mike plays guitar, harmonica, mandolin and bass. For just two people, we have a very full sound.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
For both of us, music has always been a part of our lives. Mike started playing guitar at a young age and Jamie always had music playing in the house. That musical background influenced both of us to follow a musical path.
