Today we’d like to introduce you to Virginia Connolly.
Hi Virginia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My primary business is boudoir photography. I have a passion for empowering women to live unapologetically confident lives through accepting their bodies. Through my business, I have gained years of experience in marketing, and I decided to create Newberry Rising, a marketing collective for the businesses of Newberry. This way, I can help local businesses network, pool their resources, and coordinate effective marketing campaigns that benefit our entire town!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! Challenges arise daily in business. One of my biggest challenges was publishing our first Newberry Rising magazine. Since marketing strategies have changed drastically over the last decade, local businesses are struggling more than ever to reach customers. Online shopping and big box stores with huge budgets for commercials often cause local business owners to feel invisible- even to our residents! My constant challenge is to bring optimism, hope, and visibility to local businesses by sharing my skills and vision through Newberry Rising.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most known for my boudoir photography business with over 10,000 followers on social media, and a private womens-only empowerment group of over 2000 members. I also created the Newberry Rising Facebook community in December 2023 which has grown to 2100 members. I’m most proud of my ability to empower and inspire both women, and business owners to embrace change, be proactive, and work through challenges.
Any big plans?
I am looking forward to several exciting projects in the coming months! Our second issue of Newberry Rising Magazine is currently in the creation phase. Advertisers now have the added benefit of being permanently featured on our online business directory, and we look forward to adding dozens of businesses in the coming months. We are also planning networking events and marketing workshops for 2026!
