Today we’d like to introduce you to Camille Wood.
Hi Camille, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During my master’s program at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, our professors briefly talked about starting your own practice. Since there was not an elective on how to get started, I researched what went into starting a private practice. There is a lot of information out there from previous therapists, including my own supervisors; who were great mentors! Initially, at the start of the pandemic, I started out at a group practice. However after a year, I realized I could do a solo private practice and did exactly that. Since then, I have been able to help provide services to clients over the past four years. I truly feel honored to be able to support clients during their challenging times.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to being a solopreneur has been manageable. Understanding the nuance about business can be tricky but manageable once you reach out to the right people for guidance.
As you know, we’re big fans of Your Path Counseling & Consulting. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Your Path Counseling & Consulting offers individual and couples therapy, supervision, and consulting work, either online or in-person. Through guided conversations and techniques, the clients are encouraged to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in a safe and support environment. Our focus is on holistic care, which includes mental, emotional, physical and spiritual needs.
In 2024, we offered a women’s retreat to allow the women to reflect, refresh and renew themselves in San Juan, Puerto. In 2026, we plan to connect with our inner child experience while also having fun as adults. We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
When clients come to therapy in anguish regarding various life events: grief, anxiety, depression, career transition and they’re able to tangible see a difference in less intense feelings of sadness, anxiety and less intrusive thoughts, this is success to me. Having the flexibility with my schedule to focus on self care and the things that matter to me the most, is also what I define as success.
