Rising Stars: Meet Jeffrey Stewart of Greenville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Stewart.

Hi Jeffrey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My life story is a mixture of Forrest Gump meets Indiana Jones. We have been missionaries 35 years. We have traveled to around 70 countries. We were in Eastern Europe, mostly Bulgaria, 20 years and now travel to remote areas around the world. We have worked among some of the most neglected and impoverished peoples in the world. I recently published my life story called “The Successful Life of a Total Failure.” It is on Amazon and doing well so far and based on reviews and feedback it is impacting peoples lives. Many people say they could not put the book down! I’m very grateful.
An interesting side note, when I was 17 I bicycled to the 1982 Worlds Fair by myself to raise money for cancer. The trip was over 1,000 miles round trip. I ended up on national TV.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a challenging road. My childhood was very difficult, drugs, abuse, neglect. Fortunately I put my faith in Jesus Christ at 22, while serving in the U.S. Army as an infantry soldier. As a missionary we have been kicked out of countries, been robbed by the mafia, had our apartment burn up. I’ve been stranded 200 miles deep in the jungle of the Congo, and gone into war zones, just to name a few things.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a missionary I travel the world starting churches and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. We have also ran feeding centers for impoverished children. We have carried clothes and other supplies into villages and war zones. We are most thankful for making a difference in peoples lives, truly caring about people and being willing to pay the price to keep going despite the many challenges and dangers we have faced. God has been very faithful to us.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing the smile on someone’s face and the joy in their heart when their life is impacted for the better by the gospel of Jesus Christ and they know someone really cares about them. Also, Spending time with family, especially the nine grandchildren.
