Today we’d like to introduce you to Pearl Irigoyen.
Hi Pearl, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became interested in skincare as a teen when my mom and I would make our own concoctions in the kitchen. She taught me some recipes that have been in our family for generations. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I decided to study esthetics and further my careern in the skincare industry. I became a licensed esthetician in 2013 and decided to focus on herbal remedies for the skin. I furthered my training by learning other ancient healing techniques like Ayurveda, acupressure and myofascial release therapy for beautifying the skin. In 2019 I decided to train in massage therapy with a focus on pain relief therapies to compliment my healing modalities.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first started as a holistic esthetician, no one really knew what that meant or what it looked like. It was difficult to find a place to work that had the same philosophy that matched my own. I was discouraged from pursuing a holistic approach to skincare. I was told that no one would want a holistic facial and that I should just do what every other esthetician in town was doing. However, I learned that there was a strong need for natural minded estheticians in Myrtle Beach. They began to find me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Holistic Skin Therapy and Massage by Pearl ?
I specialize in combining traditional spa therapies with modern techniques like microchanneling, dermaplaning, and lymphatic drainage integrated with holistic modalities such as energy work and herbalism. My approach is centered on restoring balance, relieving pain, and enhancing natural beauty from the inside out.
I also emphasize educating and empowering clients with knowledge about skin health and wellness practices they can continue at home. Every treatment is customized to my clients needs. My main focus is to repair the skin’s natural barrier which is crucial for healthy and beautiful skin that ages slower. Estheticians are taught to tear down the skin’s barrier but the science has been recently showing that this can cause further damage and cause premature aging. Repairing and protecting our skin’s barrier has been a new approach that is being encouraged by health professionals called corneotherapists. This has been my approach for over a decade. It is effective and the results have been successfully. I am very proud of the effective results my clients have received from my holistic approach to skincare. I am very happy to say that I didn’t give in to peer pressure and stuck to my passion. My clients are happy with their results and that is what keeps me going.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I have lived in Myrtle Beach since 1998 and I really enjoy the beach and small town feel. I love the natural surroundings we have and the amazing food. The people are friendly and approachable. What do I like least? Probably the traffic. We have always had traffic since I moved here. It got better when the new roads were built but then it has become a problem again. I don’t mind people moving here at all. It would be nice if we had less traffic but I guess it’s not a serious problem when you think about it.
