Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Watson.
Hi Alexandria, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up between TN and GA in the 80’s with a family stacked with kids. I have 7 siblings and as the second last, I was always working my angles. I was a terrible student because I always questioned the rules. I pushed myself when it came to things I loved like soccer and art but American Government or Algebra? Absolutely not. After high school, I moved to London to study hair at Vidal Sassoon Academy. This gave me an advantage when I moved back to the US where schools teach students to pass boards for licensing, not how to cut hair. I quickly built a clientele but was never satisfied just working for someone else. I started my company at 26 with a dream and a prayer but little else. I was very naive as to what it would take but if I am anything it is persistent and adaptable. Fast forward 18 years and I have a successful team of over 20 stylists, I purchased the commercial real estate and am looking to open a second location in July 2025.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not a chance! With the first market crash two years after opening and then the last crash in 2020, it has never been a cake walk. Learning to manage and understand people when I was still so immature myself was a big challenge. We also did not have IG or FB which is huge in my industry for marketing these days. We worked every client for referrals and reviews. My persistence and ability to jump through hoops and change with the times is what makes me successful
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a stylist by training, artist by passion, now a leader by growth and learning.
I am most proud of my ability to grow out of my childish selfishness into an empathetic leader that has a team that feels connected and important
What matters most to you? Why?
Having a salon and team that is respected and admired among their peers. A team that supports each other.
For me its knowing I contribute to the success of all my people and I bring security and joy to their lives.
