Daily Inspiration: Meet Maya Arigo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Arigo.

Hi Maya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I loved flipping through old family photos, reliving the memories captured in each image. That appreciation for preserving moments came from my parents, who always had a camera around. Thanks to them, I can look back at childhood memories I might have otherwise forgotten.

In high school, I took a photography class using my grandfather’s camera, and it sparked something in me. I realized photography wasn’t just a hobby—it could be something more. Over time, I nurtured that passion and eventually turned it into a business, allowing me to capture meaningful moments for others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been relatively smooth, but there have definitely been challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been wondering if I’m doing enough or questioning why I’m not getting as many clients as I’d hoped. That uncertainty can feel overwhelming at times. Another challenge is dealing with comparison—seeing others’ success and wondering if I measure up. It’s something I work on overcoming as I continue to grow and focus on my own journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer specializing in capturing couples, families, and seniors, though I’ve also had the opportunity to photograph a few weddings. What I’m most proud of is the growth I’ve experienced in both my skill and creativity. While there’s always more to learn and improve upon, looking back at where I started compared to where I am now, I’ve achieved so much more than I ever thought I would.

What sets me apart is my ability to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere during shoots, allowing me to capture authentic emotions and connections. My editing style is warm and timeless, emphasizing natural light and genuine moments. I also bring a personal touch to every session, drawing from my own love for preserving memories to make each client’s experience unique and meaningful.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe the most important quality to my success is perseverance. Building a photography business requires consistency and determination, especially during times when things feel uncertain or progress seems slow. Staying motivated to improve my skills, connect with clients, and push through challenges has been key. Along with that, creativity plays a big role in helping me stand out and bring something unique to each session. Together, these qualities keep me moving forward and growing as a photographer.
